Cinquième Sens held the 5th edition of its Creative Week in November, an annual event since 2017 that this year focused on freedom. This year’s theme is more relevant than ever after a year marked by periods of confinement. This is an opportunity for the training organization to highlight its creative talents to brands.
As with the collections of composition houses, the Creative Week Every year we explore various horizons (Green Week, African Week, Kitsch Week, Bright Week…). It’s a way of embracing the zeitgeist while also predicting upcoming trends. This year, Cinquième Sens [1] gave his perfumers carte blanche to bring the idea of freedom to life in perfumes.
Sarah Burri, Camille Leguay, Alice Dattée, Veronika Rebeka Nagy and Isabelle Ferrand thus let their imagination run free around three creative axes: liberation, evolution and escape.
With the idea of liberation, it was about mobilizing the perfumer’s expertise to give voice to the silent flowers. These «forgotten» elements of the perfumer’s instrument, from which one cannot extract the scent using conventional techniques. Isabelle Ferrand thus imagined the perfume of the wheat flower. A powdery, vegetal, dusty scent that she translated into transparent, abstract floral notes, honeyed, to express the idea of light and sun. But also using iris, violet, cedar and sandalwood.
The second axis celebrates evolution, as a passage to a new era. Veronika Rebeka Nagy wished in particular to free the fern from the male locker room, to take it to more feminine or androgynous lands. Leaving aside the classic lavender-amber structure of the fern, she emphasized geranium, vetiver and evernyl. Of course, a very herbaceous dimension is present around the myrtle, and, in the background, coumalactone, a non-allergenic substitute for coumarin, with more milky roundness.
The final stage, the escape phase, to free oneself from the notions of space-time and the laws of physics. Let’s recall, among others, Cumulus, which takes us to the sky through a vaporous, airy, cottony scent, evoking those big clouds of good weather. A play between milky, powdery notes and an ozone-like, almost cold side. The powdery accord, almost talc-like, reveals itself in transparency, with that very trendy “clean” side in perfumery at the moment.
In total, no fewer than nine creations on the broad theme of freedom were produced for this event.
Cinquième Sens Once again, he surrounded himself with partners to put his project on stage. Creative Week. This year, Jérémy Tamen, an expert in tea, has created a bespoke infusion for the event. A blend of zesty and herbaceous notes, natural, reflecting his vision of freedom: that of a stroll along the Mediterranean.
The team also worked with Les Parfumables, which presented new fragrance products in a container made from a material alternative to plastic based on wood, 100% biodegradable, produced by the Finnish company. Sulapac.
An annual appointment, which confirms that Cinquième Sens He possesses both the art of creation and the expertise of training.
